Abstract

Capitalism has entered the epoch of scientific and technological revolution in an ongoing state of increasingly deep-reaching crisis. The contemporary stage of the general crisis of capitalism is profoundly and comprehensively described in the CPSU Central Committee's Political Report to the Twenty-seventh Party Congress: Under the influence and against the backdrop of the scientific and technological revolution, the conflict between the gigantically burgeoning productive forces and social relations that are characterized by private ownership is becoming more and more acute. There is the growth of unemployment and the exacerbation of an entire complex of social problems; the omnipresent militarism that is the most prevalent means of spurring the economic system; the growing crisis of political institutions and of the spiritual sphere; the oppressive weight of reaction on all fronts—in domestic and foreign policy, in the economic system and culture, in the utilization of the achievements of human genius.
