Abstract

THE RIGHT TO INFORMATION AS A TOOL FOR IMPLEMENTING THE PRINCIPLE OF TRANSPARENCY BY EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS The aim of this article is to present the significance of the transparency principle implemented by the right to information for the functioning of the European community. The article consists of four parts. The first part illustrates the evolution of the approach to the transparency principle in individual treaties constituting the EU, the second one presents the connection of transparency with selected European values, the third part portrays the right to information as a tool for implementing the transparency principle, while the last part is dedicated to the pragmatics of information disclosure by selected European institutions.
